Plants sometimes suffer from water stress. In Brussels' Europe, standards rain down like at Gravelotte! This Europe centralizes, on its own, 80 to 90% of agricultural standards. Agriculture has been under Brussels' jurisdiction since the implementation of the CAP. France, in fact, benefits from this common agricultural policy since French farmers receive 9.5 billion euros per year... The agribusinesses take the lion's share of this financial windfall.
But, if "European standards are raining down," France, a country said to have 400,000 standards, adds tons more! In addition to transposing European standards, the French administration keeps piling up other standards! It's absurd! "Stop hassling the farmers," Georges Pompidou might have exclaimed.
Whether it's animal feed, GMOs, inputs in many crops like rice, construction deadlines... Each ministry comes up with its set of new regulations, and so do the regions and departments! French agriculture is being killed!
The bureaucracy is undermining our farmers: a farmer spends an average of nine hours a week filling out forms. For 12% of them, it would even be up to 15 hours a week.
Besides, this mess of standards, documents sent by the "little grey men" of an administration that has taken power, now comes the big "Green deal" from Brussels and its new cohort of absurd constraints. All soaked in the tainted ideology of extremist political ecology.
The green plan under discussion in Brussels foresees setting aside 10% of lands, resulting in a 15% drop in agricultural production admitted by the "bureaucrats" in Brussels... 15% less agricultural production? So, more imports!! It's the height of absurdity! Imports from the end of the world, thanks to the famous free trade agreements, with Canada, Chile, Vietnam, in total: 42 free trade agreements (FTAs) involving 74 partner states are spread across all five continents! The one with Mercosur is suspended with the sole blessing of Ursula Von der Leyen!
Who controls the compliance with European standards of these products arriving from all over the world?!! It's an aberration! Because what is the carbon footprint of milk coming from New Zealand or chickens from Brazil? Do you hear the French ecologists? Not a word against this political ecology of urban hipsters!
The French agricultural world is dying, and with it our food sovereignty and also a part of our history and roots... This is all that Brussels has been slaughtering for decades!! Yes, our History, already targeted by the Woke wave, is being suffocated, strangled by standards, liberal globalism...
The number of French farmers is collapsing. There are only 380,000 farms left... The cynicism of Europeanist misguiders is to think that with the disappearance of peasants, the field will be free. Is that Brussels' calculation? We are "euthanizing French agriculture," writes economist Nicolas Baverez. What will Macron do at the European summit on February 1st? The one who only talks about "European sovereignty" can he defend our food sovereignty which goes through national sovereignty!
