Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced major changes to the company’s social media platforms, stating it’s "time to get back to our roots." The announcement, made via a video shared on his official social media accounts, emphasizes prioritizing freedom of expression—a move that coincides with the return of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to the White House.

Zuckerberg revealed plans to eliminate fact-checkers role, replacing them with “Community Notes” generated by users. The model is inspired by Elon Musk’s platform, X, which uses users to provide warnings and context for controversial posts.

He further noted that platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads would significantly reduce censorship levels and promote more political content. Zuckerberg criticized Meta’s fact-checkers for displaying political bias, stating that they undermined trust rather than fostering it.

Additionally, the Meta CEO, whose platforms serve over 3 billion users worldwide, announced the removal of restrictions on topics like immigration and gender that deviate from mainstream narratives. He also revealed plans to collaborate with Trump in countering international governmental pressures aimed at imposing stricter regulations on U.S. tech companies.
