It may seem simple and quick, but it's best to avoid it.

USB charging stations in airports are indeed a haven for malware and surveillance and hacking software. This is called "Juice Jacking." This term is used to describe the process by which cybercriminals and hackers use USB ports and charging stations in airports, among other places, to steal travelers' personal data.

To avoid any problems, there are two solutions: either charge your mobile phone or tablet with a portable power bank, or use a "data blocker" USB key that you plug in between your charging cable and the airport's USB port.
